Nan Tien temple is situated at Berkeley along the South Coast of NSW and is the biggest Buddhist temple in the southern hemisphere. Hence the name “Nan Tien” which translates from Chinese as the “Paradise of the South”.
Since the opening of the temple in October 1995, it has become a new venue for local and international tourists and also acts as an important cultural centre bridging different cultures. The temple is located on 26 acres in the scenic town of Wollongong and focuses on the exchange of eastern and western cultures.
Nan Tien hosts a variety of events such as a cultural festival in late December, art exhibitions, meditation retreats, calligraphy retreats, Chinese new year activities and buddhist retreats.
Nan Tien temple is the perfect stop for groups and families visiting the South Coast to learn and experience the Buddhist culture.
